George Francis Nornabell

George F. Nornabell was born on 19 October 1867, in Stratford, Perth, Ontario, Canada; his father, John Nornabell, was 40 and his mother, Sarah Chapman, was 33. He married Anna Maria Kirkland (1872-1945) on 21 June 1899, in Point Edward, Lambton, Ontario, Canada. They were the parents of at least one son, Garwood (1901-1987). A twin brother died in the year of his birth.

In 1880, several Nornabell names are listed in the Stratford directory but not George. A listing for John Nornabell, probably his father, is noted to be a yardman who lives on Grant at the corner of McNab. By 1896, George is a timekeeper working for the Grand Trunk Railway (GTR) and boarding at 34 Grant Street. By 1901, after getting married, he is living on Nile Street. Another probable relative, Mrs. Charles Nornabell, is running a grocery at the corner of Nile and Grange Streets. Her husband Charlie had also worked for the GTR.

In Vernon's Directory 1904-1906, George and Anna are living at 47 Grange Street and he is involved with electrical work with GTR. In 1920 they are still living at 47 Grange and George is an accountant with GTR. By 1930, their son, Garwood, is listed as living with them on Grange and they are still all listed there in 1944.

Anna died in 1945 and George moved to 146 Wellington and is living there in 1948. George died in 1950, at the age of 83, and was buried in Stratford, Perth, Ontario, Canada. Source: Vernon Directories for Stratford.
