In 1909 John Auld Meldrum and his family lived here.


John was a native of Bon’ness, Linlithgoshire Scotland.  He was married in Glasgow Scotland in 1901 two Marion Calderhead.  In 1904 he came to Canada with his wife and family and took up residence in Strafford. On the death of his wife he moved from his home at 126 Dufferin St. to live with his son. On arrival in Stratford he became an employee of the grand trunk railway where he served as a motive power shops' machinist until his retirement in 1935 .


Always active and interested in civic affairs. John served as a Stratford alderman for 13 terms in the years ranging from 1920 to 1943.
